A short ride with Jesse Dog through Village Park.  He REALLY needs to get back in shape... even more so than me!   Some mud in the usual places.  Thanks to the Trail Elves, nice new bridge over the stream? (what do you call that?) on the re-routed Pine Needles trail.  Nice enough day for Jesse to hop in the pond for a dip, then again, he thinks February has nice days for swimming!

Big River

This ride....ouch. Slogged my way through the whole ride trying not to hold up fellow riders Bruce, Skip, and Rex.   That out and back track at the bottom was me getting separated...taking a left instead of a right.

Back to the River - Big River - 3 April

Met up with five of my "old" friends today for another one of their epic routes through Big River.  Hit plenty of techy rock gardens and some interesting river crossings.  Lots of water in the streams, but the trails are near perfect!!  About 10 miles.... felt like 20 (it was a very loooong Winter).   Back in the saddle!

Village Park - 28 March 14

Just me and Jesse for a 5 miler.  Good conditions, stayed away from anything too muddy.   That Husky needs more exercise, lagged after 4 miles (kind of like when I ride with others, I lag behind)

Went for an 8 miler with Bob and Brian.  Great conditions, well greatly frozen, it was 19 degrees when we started.  Kept moving, Bob filmed some jumps, good time.

Out to the Park for a quicky.  4 miles of pretty good conditions... some (very few) soft areas.  Not an issue...trails are ready for Spring!

Barrington Brickyard Pond

The small amount of trail I rode was mush (mud and slush).  I'd recommend staying off the real trails we all know and love.  At least until a re-freeze or dry out.

Best of Both Worlds - Village Park

Today two of my mountain biking worlds collided!  Bruce and Tom representing the RI group and Bob, Matt, Jack, and Don(?) from the MA gang joined me for a brisk ride in Swansea.  My stupid app wasn't working but I'm pretty sure we did over 10 miles.  14 degree temps and hard pack snow made for a very grippy surface with very few slide out issues.  Seemed to me Bruce and Tom enjoyed their first tour of VP.  Of course I was the slow poke, with ZERO rides logged in Feb.  Couldn't even stick with Jack the Hammer who rode the whole route on a cyclocross bike... geeees!

Fresh Air - Village Park Hike

Took Jesse Dog out for a hike to check the conditions of the trails for riding.  3.5 miles or so.  Started clearing some new trail potentials I've been looking at...to be continued.  The trails are rideable, but by no means ideal.  Lots of frozen slush (aka bumpy ice) to watch out for.  I may wait before riding on a normal mtb.  I may consider a fat bike ride...also to be continued.

Brought Jesse for a ride around the snowy trails.  Somehow managed to keep him clean and dry, no easy task!   Yay Jesse.

Village Park (5.5) - Yep, it's still Winter...

A few loops at VP.  Temps in the upper 20's.  The light snow still on the ground did not impact the ride, great conditions.  New England MTBing in the Winter...expect the expected.

Village Park (5) Temp Drop

Temps went from 44 to 14 in a day.  Felt even colder than it was.  Super frozen, super fast trails.  Can't say that Jesse appreciated it.  He's pretty worn out from the ordeal.  :(

Quick ride with Jesse.  Still a bit muddy on some of the new trails.  Not a sole out there...eerily quiet before the next, yep, snow storm.

Big River, New Year (9 miles)

Finally made it back for a ride with the BR group... we talked, we laughed, "we" kicked my ass.  I quickly remembered exactly why I hate taking so much time off.  A good ride, 9+ miles.

Bob and I for about 7 miles with an inch of light snow on the trails. Roots were a bit slippery, but a fun ride.

Went to my hometown to check out one of the reserves managed by DNRT .  Great hiking and/or snowshoeing area, can also access Copicut Reservoir for some cool sites.  I'll have to check these trails out for biking once the snow melts.  Maps are available at the trailhead.

Village Park Chill Out The Year

Village Park Mud

Took Jesse out for some mud jumping.  He forgot about the jumping part.  Although given how much rain we had yesterday, the trails were in pretty decent shape.  Gave me a chance to track a couple of the newly cut trails for the map.  Should be ready for the January 2014 release!

Big Bad Barrington Hike

Jesse and I took our fav for a walk on the trails behind the YMCA.  Brickyard Pond area.  A little mushy but not too bad.  Nice walking trails.

A Crunchy Roll - Village Park

Took Jesse for a little fat burner... burned a little fat... very little.  Crunchy dirt and ice conditions did not pose a problem.  About 5-ish miles at a slow pace.  

BB crashed, so no complete track recorded. Boo.

Tidbit:  The elves have been back to work...some new cut throughs and other trail options of technical nature (tried one drop trail by accident!)   ...good stuff!
